Tim Muhich

[Advisor]

Mr. Tim Muhich is a PhD student in the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan, co-advised by Drs. Michaela Zint and Kai Zhu. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a BS in Biological Sciences, minoring in Chemistry, and a BS in Zoology with a concentration in Marine Biology before teaching high school chemistry and climate change for a decade. Tim’s research interests revolve around how to increase access to high-quality climate change educational experiences for high school students. Tim is currently working on projects related to phenology and climate education for biology students, as well as how to implement interdisciplinary climate education programs at the high school level.

Ashley Rawlings

[President]

Ashley Rawlings is a senior at the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center, Harper Creek High School, and Kellogg Community College. She is a member of Student Council, NHS, RACE Club, Book Club, and manages the Harper Creek's Girl's Swim and Dive team. She loves to read, help others, and recently, she started to gain interest in cooking and planting. She joined the Climate Change Symposium to inform the public on climate change and further her understanding on the topic.

Lauren Rekis

[Vice-President]

Lauren is a high school senior attending Marshall High School, the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center, and Kellogg Community College. She enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, various textile crafts, and showing her horse at the national level. Lauren joined the High School Climate Change Symposium Committee in order to learn more about climate change, and to help other students learn about this essential topic as well.

Elijah Fox

[Speaker Coordinator]

Elijah Fox is a senior at Battle Creek Pennfield High school. Elijah runs cross country for his high school in the fall and skis in the winter. Outside of school Elijah is the treasurer of the local city Youth Alliance Committee and a member of the Cereal City Concert Band. Elijah joined the Climate Change Symposium Committee to be a part of extending student led outreach from the BCAMSC and to be a part of the student body for change in the world.

Andrew Winter

Andrew is a scientific mind with a passion for the world around them. They participate in programs from tutoring to student advisory, and place great importance in living a life of learning. When not in school or at work, Andrew enjoys playing DnD and caring for their lizard. They joined Global Climate Change Symposium in the hopes to keep alive a BCAMSC tradition and make the world more aware of the issues Climate Change comes with.

Theo McCardell

Theo is a Senior at Homer Community High School and the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center, he is a member of NHS, as well as a member of the Homer Golf Team. He joined the Climate Change Symposium Committee in order to help bring the changes necessary to preserve our planet.

Trey Sebring

T. C. Sebring is a senior at Battle Creek Central and the Battle Creek Area Mathematics and Science Center. He is a member of Central's tennis team, as well as the Youth Alliance Committee. In his spare time, he enjoys biking, camping, rock climbing, and all things coming from the wild. It is this passion that led him to become a member of the High School Climate Change Symposium, he wants to bring the climate problem closer to those who have less of an interest in these things than he does.

Pablo Camargo Tang

Pablo Camargo Tang is a senior at Lakeview High School and the BCAMSC. Pablo enjoys learning, traveling, reading, and photography. He is an officer of Lakeview's FIRST robotics team, National Honors Society, Key Club, Voces Youth Council, and a Battle Creek Community Foundation's Youth Alliance Committee member. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues that humanity currently faces. Therefore, he decided to join this year's Climate Change Symposium Committee to help bring attention to this issue and promote change.

Paul DeVito

Paul DeVito is in eleventh grade and attends Olivet High School. He enjoys running cross country and track. In his spare time, he works on mechanical projects. The Climate Change Symposium Committee was a great way to be introduced to ideas on climate change and to be more involved with classmates outside of class.

Sabrina Hendrix

Sabrina is a Junior at Harper Creek High School and the Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center. She loves reading, writing, hiking, and hanging out with friends. She joined the Climate Change Symposium to both learn more about how to help the situation and pass that knowledge on to others.

Alicia Sterly

Alicia Sterly is an eleventh grader at Homer High School and the Battle Creek Area Mathematics and Science Center. Some extracurriculars she is involved in includes Cross Country, Bowling, and Track & Field. She has joined the Climate Change Symposium Committee to gather more experience hosting large events and assisting others with the preparations.
